# SLEUTH & aSLEUTH: Sleuth Intel's Two-Token System

> Understand how SLEUTH capital and aSLEUTH contribution rank work together — and why one can never substitute for the other in Sleuth Intel.

Sleuth Intel runs on two separate instruments: **SLEUTH**, a tradeable ERC-20 token that represents capital, and **aSLEUTH**, an on-platform accounting record that represents your contribution history. They unlock access through different paths and follow completely different rules — capital cannot earn rank, and rank cannot be bought.

## SLEUTH vs aSLEUTH at a Glance

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="SLEUTH — Capital" icon="coins">
    * Tradeable ERC-20, fixed supply of 100 million
    * No inflation, ever — supply never increases
    * Sits in your own wallet; no staking, no lockups
    * Buys tier access by dollar value held
    * 25% of all platform revenue spent monthly buying SLEUTH from the open market
    * **Cannot** earn aSLEUTH — holding SLEUTH alone builds no contribution rank
  </Card>

  <Card title="aSLEUTH — Contribution Rank" icon="trophy">
    * NOT a tradeable token — a dollar-denominated accounting record
    * Earned exclusively through accepted intel submissions
    * Cannot be bought, transferred, or sold
    * Counts toward tier access thresholds
    * Decays if you go idle for more than 30 days
    * **Cannot** be converted to SLEUTH or withdrawn

<Note>
  Selling all your SLEUTH has zero effect on your aSLEUTH record. The two ledgers are entirely independent.

## The Five Jobs aSLEUTH Does

aSLEUTH is not decorative — it actively governs what you can do on the platform:

1. **Payroll meter** — your accumulated aSLEUTH determines your share of monthly epoch wages
2. **Tier access** — aSLEUTH counts toward tier thresholds the same way held SLEUTH does
3. **Hunting licence** — reach \$1,000 aSLEUTH to submit intelligence to The Belt
4. **Verifier licence** — reach \$1,000 aSLEUTH to be selected as a randomised verdict verifier
5. **Slash collateral** — your aSLEUTH balance backs the integrity of your verdicts; bad actors lose it

## What Happens When You Earn

Every accepted intel submission writes to **two ledgers simultaneously**:

* **This month's bill** — the dollar value of your accepted intel accrues toward your epoch wage payout
* **Your permanent aSLEUTH record** — the same dollar value is added to your cumulative contribution rank

You don't choose one or the other. Both update in the same event. This means your reputation compounds alongside your earnings from the first accepted contribution onward.

## aSLEUTH Decay

Your aSLEUTH balance is not permanent by default. After **30 consecutive idle days** — no accepted contributions at Grade 2 or above — your balance begins decaying at **0.5% per day**.

<Warning>
  A 0.5%/day decay rate compounds quickly. After 60 idle days (30-day grace + 30 days of decay), you lose roughly 14% of your balance. Keep submitting to keep your rank intact.
</Warning>

Submitting and having a contribution accepted at Grade 2 or higher **pauses the decay clock** and resets your 30-day idle window. The decay mechanism exists to ensure that aSLEUTH reflects active, ongoing contribution — not a one-time historical event.

## No Staking, Ever

SLEUTH will never have a staking mechanism. It lives in your own self-custody wallet. There are no lockups, no bonding curves, no delegation. The decision to hold is a pure capital decision — not a yield-farming decision.

<Tip>
  Because SLEUTH thresholds are dollar-denominated rather than token-denominated, a drop in SLEUTH price means holders need to acquire more tokens to defend their tier. This creates organic, demand-driven buy pressure without any protocol-enforced locking.
